WSPA Officers

    Tonya Klem

I am a school psychologist, a wife, and a mother of two beautiful boys. My career started over 25 years ago as a counselor working with teenagers in residential settings.  After moving to Wisconsin in 2008, I earned my Ed. S. and National Certification in School Psychology (NCSP).  I have worked in Wisconsin as a school psychologist since 2011.  Currently, I work part-time with the Ellsworth Community School District and part-time in my private practice. I especially enjoy my role as a school-based mental health provider and working with children and adolescents with complex trauma.  Additionally, I am passionate about working closely with students, educators and families when an individual is struggling to learn to read.  I am thrilled to have the opportunity to serve the school psychologists in our state as WSPA President.

  Rene Staskal

  Past President

Rene worked in the Madison Metropolitan School District since 2013. She graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara’s doctoral psychology program. Rene works in a high school setting and enjoys the energy and challenge of working with adolescents. She am interested in school based programs that foster resiliency and collaboration with community partners.

  Brooke Souppenne

I have been a school psychologist in the Milwaukee Public School district since 2009. This dynamic position allows me to practice in various capacities day to day. I love to provide and facilitate preventative services in the school buildings with students, fami- lies, and staff. The Secretary position is my first with WSPA and I am look- ing forward to serving on the board. In the field of school psychology I am passionate about culturally responsive practices, specifically, as they relate to assessment practices and behavioral and academic interventions. I re- ceived my Ed.S. from UW River Falls and my Bachelor's degree from Gus- tavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN. I am a proud native Minnesotan and yes, Vikings fan!! Outside of work I enjoy spending time and going on adventures big or small with my family and friends.

  Ann Reyes

  At-Large Executive Board Member

  Recognition and Scholarships Committee Chair

I am an NCSP Psychologist working in the Madison Metropolitan School District since 2013.  Prior to joining the incredible team of psychologist in MMSD, I worked for the Waterloo School District.  I attended UW-Madison for my undergraduate and graduate degree, and continue to enjoy the Madison community with my husband and children.  I joined the WSPA Board in 2017 and am excited to Chair the Recognition and Scholarship Committee and to serve as the At-Large Executive Board Member.  Through my role on the Recognition and Scholarship Committee I have the amazing opportunity to learn about the dedicated work of graduate students and school psychologists across Wisconsin.  I enjoy my work on the WSPA Board because it allows me to advocate for our profession, our schools, and our students.
